| College student association cancels Rick Ross concert
Back February, Carleton University's Student Association helped organize a Rick Ross show. As usual, a student association sold tickets included in its agreement with promoters.
Friday, the group reached a deal with promoters and also Rick Ross concert scheduled at Ontario's Ernst and Young Centre on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 has become canceled.
The coed association issued a press release on its uneasiness with supporting a Rick Ross concert on March 28. The audience began selling back remaining tickets to concert promoters and assured the campus and community that this decision to create Rick Ross within the Centre is fashioned before his controversial guest appearance for a Rocko record was released.
If the student <a href=http://bcalmpoweryoga.com/Images/ugg.html>http://bcalmpoweryoga.com/Images/ugg.html</a> association pulled its total support for the Rick Ross concert, they consented to reimburse someone who purchased tickets off their organization. American Studies PhDs, the country's newer range of cultural/political bloggers, have embraced, explained and virtually excused hip hop's masculinity, fellatio, and its unrelenting sexism (ie. Male artists and their lyrics consistently define female beauty and behavior) alot more often than it's opposed it.
And that is exactly partly because hip hop music (in addition than its <a href=http://www.quickval.com/images/uggs.html>http://www.quickval.com/images/uggs.html</a> lyrics) reaches demographics that transcend culture, education and income.
Regardless of the odd trend of academics in other words thus embrace and coddle current hip hop as well as artists, the Rick Ross lyrics on the Rocko record went without defense. College campuses in all places can least afford to associate itself with rape. The ironic sadness from the entire situation is this : Rick Ross doesn't appear to know better.
As well as the cancelled concert prompted by Canadian students, women's groups, such as National Organization for female, were outside Reebok's <a href=http://bcalmpoweryoga.com/Images/aj.html>エアジョーダン4</a> flagship US store in NYC protesting Reebok sponsorship of Rick Ross, the rapper this past Friday.
It's unfortunate that outrage at hip hop's misogyny is limited to rape and date rape drugs. Trainees everywhere have come out against Rick Ross's recent lyrics, nevertheless the Carleton University Student's Association could be the first going to misogyny and sexism where promoted hurtsthe perpetrators' wallets.
